The Independent Theatre Agreement is used by professional theatre companies across Canada that are not members of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).
We hope the information in this section helps provide a basic understanding of the general principles of the Independent Theatre Agreement. That said, it’s important to take the time to read the full agreement so you’re familiar with and able to comply with all of its provisions.
It is the Engager’s responsibility to abide by and conform to the terms and conditions of the ITA.
Furthermore, the Engager has an obligation—under both the ITA and applicable provincial legislation — to create and maintain a safe and respectful workplace for all workers. This includes ensuring that workers can raise concerns without fear of reprisal and that any incidents of inappropriate behaviour are investigated promptly.
