Safe & Respectful Workplaces
Equity is committed to the pursuit of safe and respectful workplaces for all artists.
We work towards this objective through:
- Negotiating and enforcing constructive language in our agreements
- Promoting awareness and education of workers’ rights
- Actively participating in the process through initiatives like Equity’s Not in OUR Space! program
It’s important to remember, it’s the engager’s responsibility to maintain a safe and respectful workplace, and failing that, their job is to investigate and resolve any concerns of an unsafe work environment or inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.

Not in OUR Space!
Not in OUR Space! is an anti-harassment and respectful workplace campaign developed by Equity to promote awareness and provide education for everyone working on a production, from artists to engagers.
Health & Safety
Workplace safety and worker rights are regulated by provincial laws, and are an important component of Equity’s agreements and engagement policies.
Mental Health & Wellness
Mental health and wellness greatly impact our ability to cope with stress, build strong relationships, work productively, make good decisions, and contribute to our communities.
Workshops & Seminars
Equity has delivered a number of workshops and seminars, a number of which address safe and respectful practices, such as: Bystander Intervention, Conflict Resolution, Anti-oppressive Communication, Mental Health, and more.
