Stage Managers
The Stage Management Committee has been serving Equity members working in stage management since the early ’90s. By engaging with our community, we have ensured that Council policy and Equity’s various agreements continue to reflect the needs of stage managers working in all areas of Equity’s jurisdiction.
Many of the resources below were created by the SM Committee. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to smcommittee@caea.com.
Resources at Work
From callboard materials to helpful guides, these resources are intended to support stage managers in their workplace.
Apprenticeship
Whether you have yet to begin work on your first apprentice credit or you are well into the process, learn about what to expect in your apprenticeship, and in your relationship with Equity.
Overtime & Timesheets
Resources for tracking of stage management work hours, calculating overtime and penalty payments, and calculating Employment Standards overtime across Canada.
Become an SM Advisor
Apprentice Advisors are volunteer stage managers from across Canada who are available to support apprentice stage managers. They can help answer questions about Equity, scale agreements, engagement policies, and general stage management practices.
SM Arts
Stage Managing the Arts (SMArts) is an instructional service organization providing quality training to stage managers, from early career counselling to high-level mid-career professional development. Annual conferences explore aspects of stage management with an emphasis on sharing experience and knowledge in a comfortable seminar environment.
Equity has been a key SMArts sponsor since the organization’s inception in 1997 as part of our professional development mandate.
