Touring
Types of tours
Local touring
Local touring is a run-out where the Artist leaves and returns to the Theatre’s point of origin on the same day for the purpose of rehearsing or performance, and where no overnight accommodation is required.
Overnight touring
Overnight touring is when the Artist is required by the Theatre for any reason to be away from the point of origin for more than 10 consecutive hours and overnight accommodation is required.
In cases where touring is anticipated, the Theatre must submit the following information with their Application Form:
- A copy of the proposed itinerary, including the rehearsal and performance schedule
- Proposals for transportation and accommodation
- Daily expense allowance (per diem) calculations
- Performance venue information (including top ticket price and number of seats)
Tour locations
Touring to the U.S.
The applicable per diem for tours to the U.S. is the Canadian per diem, payable in U.S. dollars.
Touring to the Canadian North
Touring to the Canadian north can have specific challenges in regard to travel times and the length of the workday. Please contact Equity to discuss the specific requirements, including increased per diem, in advance of the tour.
Overseas Touring
Overseas (outside of Canada and the US) tours require the negotiation of an Overseas Tour Rider that must be approved by Equity, addressing the following:
