Equity offers multiple pathways for reporting and dealing with issues:
Inappropriate behaviour in the workplace
Artists who have experienced or witnessed harassment, bullying, discrimination, or other forms of inappropriate behaviour and unprofessional conduct in the workplace are encouraged to report the incident(s) to Equity as soon as possible.
All reports will remain confidential. You may also submit a report anonymously, but this will greatly impact Equity’s ability to follow up or take any action.
Remember—it’s the engager’s responsibility to maintain a safe and respectful workplace, and failing that, their job is to investigate and resolve any concerns of an unsafe work environment or inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. Addressing your concerns with the Engager while the production is still going on is the best way to resolve an issue.
Violation of professional conduct standards
Equity’s Complaints and Disciplinary Process allows for formal complaints to be filed against a member if they are in violation of Equity’s Bylaws.
Service issue
Anyone interacting with Equity that feels the Association did not meet its responsibilities according to the Service Standards can file a complaint.
If you are not satisfied with the quality of service that you have received, please email the department lead directly from the Staff Contact page or email servicestandards@caea.com indicating whom you spoke with and the nature of your concern.
If you are still unsatisfied, you may file a complaint for review by the Executive Director.
