Social Media Policy
Canadian Actors’ Equity Association endeavors to create an online environment for members of Equity and our community to promote and celebrate the artistry and accomplishments of live performance workers as well as share information about our craft and our industry.
Equity’s online environments are safe spaces where inappropriate behaviour (i.e., Abuse of Power, Discrimination, Harassment, Reprisal, Unprofessional Behaviour, and Violence, as defined by Equity’s Bylaws) will not be tolerated.
While we encourage participation from everyone and all manner of opinions, in all instances, contributions to Equity’s online environments must reflect, respect, and complement this Social Media Policy and the objectives of the Association.
Contributions deemed to be spam or offensive in nature will be removed at the discretion of the Admins and Moderators and will result in a warning. Further offensive contributions will result in the removal of the offending poster. Contributions deemed to be threatening or violent in nature will result in an immediate removal of the offending poster and may be subject to legal action.
Business of the Association (i.e., questions related to an agreement or your dues, difficulty logging into the website, etc.) should be directed by email to the appropriate Equity staffer or info@caea.com. Equity’s social media platforms are not being monitored for such questions.
Shared content should be pertinent and consistent with the objectives of Equity. It should be original or produced by recognized and accredited news sources. AI materials should be clearly identified as such.
Contributions promoting non-union production will be removed immediately.
Equity’s social media platforms are not intended for solicitation of business. Commercial contributions such as, but not limited to, the promotion of a product, service, event, etc. should be limited in frequency and should include a tangible benefit for Equity members (i.e., a discount). Rampant commercial posting may be removed and may result in a warning or possible further action. This includes promotion of Equity projects and self-promotion.
Please note, the views and/or opinions expressed on Equity’s social media platforms do not necessarily reflect those of Equity or its elected leadership.
This policy is reviewed as necessary.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at communications@caea.com.
