Dues Remission

Of course! Equity greatly appreciates any member who qualifies for dues remission and decides to continue supporting their Association by paying basic dues. You can always apply for dues remission later as long as you are in good standing (fully paid up) when you submit your application.

Yes. The Bylaws allow for members to be in arrears and still qualify for dues remission, as long as they weren’t in arrears two dues billings in a row.

Only two. The two consecutive times in arrears must be added before you can qualify, but the two times that were not consecutive will not be added to the ten years.

Yes. Anyone in arrears for two or more consecutive dues billings can qualify after adding additional dues billing periods, equal to the consecutive dues billings you were in arrears. So, in this case, two more dues billings (or one year) from now, you can apply for dues remission. As long as you are in good standing when you apply.

Dues billings on withdrawal are treated the same as the rules for arrears (above). So, a 65 year old theatre performer who spent three years on withdrawal will qualify for dues remission after paying dues for six more dues billings (or three years). Again, as long as you are in good standing when you apply.

No. Equity only notifies members who meet the initial requirements of dues remission eligibility. If you were in arrears two or more times or on withdrawal and qualify after paying additional dues billings, Equity does not send you a notice. So, please keep track!
